Mrs Deakin

My name is Nevin Deakin and I am privileged to be the Headteacher at Marton.

Being a Headteacher is a very special job as I am responsible for making lots of decisions. I never forget that every decision I make is for the benefit of every child even if that means making unpopular decisions! I have been a Headteacher of three schools to date and Marton has a very special place in my heart.

I have a teenage son who loves all things to do with football and as a family we are great football supporters, we just don’t support the same team – which means we have lots of discussions, although some may call these disagreements! I love to talk about football with the children at school and I’m well known for my ‘special assemblies’.

I’m forever thinking of new ideas at school and feel blessed to work alongside colleagues who I can call friends. I really miss being at school in the holidays! If do I have any spare time I love spending it with family and friends and love to read constantly.

Mrs Wood

My name is Johanna Wood and I am the year 4 teacher and Deputy Headteacher at Marton. I joined the school in 2012 and I really do have the best job in the world!! No two days are ever the same and I feel so privileged to have a positive impact on little people’s learning. I studied for my degree in drama with music at MMU and then completed my PGCE at the University of Cumbria after having my family. I live with my husband and two daughters Olivia and Darcy. My family are my absolute world and I love to spend as much time as possible with them. We like to go away in our campervan and walk our crazy dog Fern - she even comes in our canoe with us!

Mrs Wilson

Hello, my name is Lucy Wilson and I am the Year 6 teacher and SENCo here at Marton. 

I have taught in many year groups throughout the school, including the infants, but I absolutely adore teaching Year 6 - I love helping little people become little adults (as well as preparing for SATs!)

Outside of school, I enjoying reading, baking and spending time with my friends and family - especially my daughters. 

Miss Copestick

My name is Stephanie Copestick and I am the Year 6 class teacher here at Marton. I feel very lucky to be a part of the Marton community as a teacher, considering I grew up as a Marton Pupil. It’s clear to say that Marton and its heart-warming ethos and traditions hold a very dear place in my heart and I feel that it’s a very special place indeed.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, supporting the local theatre and I cheer on my son at his football matches on cold Saturday mornings!

Mrs Sparey

My name is Heather Sparey and I joined Marton in 2015.  I am the Year 1 teacher and I love my job, watching children learn and grow is such a privilege and the children at Marton always make me smile.

I enjoy baking, crafting, reading and spending time with my family.  I have 3 beautiful children; my children have all attended Marton School and they've loved it here.  Marton is such a a supportive school and I love the way we all work together as a family to make it the best it can be.

Mrs Jones

My name is Emma Jones. I joined Marton in 2017 after I graduated from MMU. I am very proud to be part of the Marton family and I enjoy every day teaching our wonderful pupils. 

My daughter, Willow, keeps me super busy at home! I cherish moments with my family and we all love cooking, camping and going on trips to the theatre to see musicals - my favourite is "Evita". 

Mrs Owen

My name is Lena Owen and I am the Early Years Foundation Stage teacher. I feel very proud to be part of the Marton family and to be able to take special care of our young learners.  I pride myself in getting to know all the individuals in my classroom and ensure I find out what makes each of them tick. I have taught for more years than I wish to remember but have loved every minute of it. 

I'm kept as busy at home with 2 young boys who love being active. We spent most of our lives outside enjoying the fresh air and making sure every one sleeps at night. 

Mrs Woodmass

Hi,  I’m Allegra Woodmass. My role at Marton Primary School has changed over the years. My first encounter with the school was as a mum when my sons attended here.  I loved the whole ethos and family feel you get as soon as you step inside.

When my sons were aged 9 and 6 I began working here as a teaching assistant. I absolutely loved this role doing interventions and class support for many years.

In 2021 we saw a change in school, following the pandemic and noticed children were struggling more with emotional issues than ever before. I started a time-to-talk club which took off hugely, so much so that Mrs Deakin and the senior leadership team enrolled me on an emotional literacy course. That brings me to present day where I work full time as the pastoral lead and Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (Elsa) in school.

I offer one-to-one and group sessions where the children learn about emotional wellbeing and have the opportunity to practice mindfulness.  This move forward in school has proved to be invaluable as children need to have resilience and positive self-esteem in order to reach their full potential. I love my current role and wouldn’t change it for the world.

Miss Forster

My name is Louise Forster. I am a Teaching Assistant and enjoying getting to know the children and helping them develop and progress through school.

All my spare time is currently taken up by my daughter so you will often see me in a play centre or at the park.

Mrs McGuire

My name is Chloe McGuire and my journey at Marton started out as a playworker in M.A.D house in 2022. In 2023, I also became a Teaching Assistant in the school. I am very proud to be a part of the family at Marton and love watching your children flourish within the school but also have a run around and play at M.A.D House! 

Outside of school I love to spend time with my husband and our very active toddler. We love to explore the outdoors, eat out and spend time with our family.

Miss Rolfe

Hi my name is Abi Rolfe and I am a Teaching Assistant. I joined the Marton family in November 2022. I absolutely love it here!

Everyone is so kind, caring, supportive and it really does feel like a big family!

I completed 2 years of Paediatric Nursing and gained my Diploma of Higher Education and I hold a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care and Early Years Education.

In my spare time I love being with my friends, family, partner and my fur baby Ted. He is a King Charles Cavalier and he’s just gorgeous! 

I enjoy listening to music and having a good dance. I enjoy cooking and baking. I live near Leek and I can speak some Spanish which I have been teaching some of the children.

Miss Heath

My name is Natasha Heath and I am a 1:1 Teaching Assistant. I joined the Marton Family in 2022 whilst studying for a master’s degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Manchester. In 2021, I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Psychology with International Study, where I was lucky enough to study abroad for an academic year at The University of California, Irvine.  

I feel very privileged to see our lovely children learn and grow every day – I really do have the most rewarding job! Outside of school, I love spending time with friends and family, walking my little dog Rosie and watching musicals at the theatre. 

Mrs McLean

My name is Kate McLean and I became part of this amazing Marton family when I joined EYFS with Mrs Owen. I have a retail background but have worked in education for 20 years now and I adore it. Watching the first steps as your children join the school setting then seeing them flourish is amazing and we have great fun too!

I live with my husband and our two boys, who are huge adults that tower over me now! We love to travel, enjoy eating out, walking in the countryside, doing quizzes and spending time with all my family. My favourite chill out place is Anglesey, where we go regularly.

Mrs Cook

Hi my name is Heidi and I joined Marton in 2022 as a 'part time' Teaching Assistant, and within 2 days I decided to leave my old job (a carer of 15yrs) to become a full time member of the Marton family. I feel very fortunate to be able to help children grow and learn and be part of their Marton journey.

I studied for a degree in drama and a diploma in musical theatre. This allowed me to not only perform in some fabulous venues, but also gave me the opportunity to produce and direct shows for amateur theatre groups around Cheshire.
The best thing is making memories with my husband and son - going on holiday where there is lots of sun, a good book, singing and a good laugh.

Miss Peckham

Hi. My name is Lelia and I have recently joined the Marton family as a teaching assistant in Year 1. Everyone here has made me feel so welcome and I'm really enjoying getting to know all the children and watching them learn and grow. 

Before my job here at Marton, I worked in a nursery setting for three years and have been doing some GCSE part-time maths tutoring. When I'm not at Marton, I enjoy running and going to the gym, along with volunteering at and training for hybrid fitness events!

Jess Forster

My name is Jess, I have a level 3 diploma in The Children and Young Peoples Workforce, I have been part of Marton School since 2015 and was lucky enough to be employed directly by Marton School in 2020 when we created M.A.D House which I have the privilege of being Club Manager.

When I am not thinking of your children, which isn’t very often, it is all about family time. My husband and I love to travel and eat out. I have the pleasure of looking after my two young grandchildren who keep me on my toes and we love to walk Daisy the dog, whom many of you have met.

Rachel Watson 

My name is Rach and I have been part of the Marton Family since 2009 and I have had the pleasure of cooking everyone’s lunch, I take pride in my work and love to provide theme days and little extras to make the lunches special.

In 2020 I took on a new challenge and became a Playworker at M.A.D House giving me the chance to develop my skills and enjoy more time with the children.

Any spare time I have is spent with my family and my adorable grandsons who mean the world to me.  We love walking and going on holiday together.

Chloe Mcguire 

My name is Chloe and I am proud to be a new member of the Marton Family, I am a Playworker at M.A.D House and love to be creative and find new crafting activities for us to do.

My spare time is taken up with my husband and son where we enjoy visiting attractions to keep our very lively 1 year old happy.
