Following a number of discussions over the past few weeks between Dean, Nevin (on behalf of the staff) and some Governors, Dean has taken the difficult decision to end the Kickstart contract with Marton. You may have already seen the message he has sent out? This is not the outcome that either party expected at the onset of our discussions and it has been an emotionally challenging time for everyone, but we will of course respect Dean’s decision.
To clarify what this means for our families, this will impact PE during the school day, two of our afterschool clubs, wrap-around care and holiday club provision. However, we will now take this opportunity to review the requirements for all of these. Of course we still have no information regarding when school will reopen or what a ‘normal’ school day will look like so it’s a challenge to work out exactly what provision we will need but we will do all we can to put new plans in place. Please be assured that should the school day from September require us to have wrap-around care, it will be in place and we will keep you updated.
Importantly for our children and families, we will continue to work closely together with Kickstart for the remainder of the school year, whatever that might look like. We are all hoping that school might return in some form before the end of term so that the Kickstart team are able to say a proper goodbye to you and your children. Should it be that school doesn’t reopen we are sure that Dean will have an alternative goodbye plan.
We have a lot to say thank you for in respect of everything that Dean and the KickSsart team has brought to Marton over the last 4 years, not least of which has been their impact on sports and most recently our wrap-around care. We know you will join us in in saying thank you and wishing all of them the very best.
