Regarding Phased Return to School
Following confirmation of the phased return to schools for children in selected year groups we have the following updated information to share with you.
Please read this information together with the information that was sent out on Monday as many of the arrangements are the same.
To confirm:
From 1st June - only children of key workers will return to school (this information has not changed and therefore the measures we shared with you - children in the hall, socially distanced with staff has not changed. This is a small number of children and therefore manageable. Key workers children will remain as a small group. Any children of key workers in reception, year 1 and year 6 will (from the dates below) then join their year group. All other key worker children will remain together.
From 15th June - reception class will be split into two ‘bubbles’ and be managed separately. They will be in year 1 and year 2 classrooms. These classrooms have separate entrance and exits and therefore children will be able to remain separate.
From 22nd June - year 1 children will be kept together as parents have already informed me that not all year 1 children are returning and therefore they can stay in their own bubble. They will be in year 4 classroom. This also has a separate entrance and exit and has easy access to key stage 1 playground.
From 29th June - year 6 will be split into two ‘bubbles’ and be managed separately. They will be in year 3 and year 5 classrooms. Both have separate entrance/exits too.
Due to space at school we are allocating two classrooms per cohort. The ideal recommendation is a maximum of 8 children in an average size classroom which given our pupil numbers, means we will not be able to follow the guidelines for 2m distancing. We will however keep within the recommended 15 pupils in a bubble group and know our local schools are also following this where possible.
We will keep two classrooms free in each key stage for isolation rooms if a child becomes unwell.
All groups of children will stay apart from other groups to support social distancing.
Children will eat lunches within their groups and have playtimes with their group. Where possible we will use the outside areas too.
As we informed you earlier - remote learning will continue and this is consistent across all our local schools. Children coming into school will be able to continue with their home learning but we will focus on wellbeing activities and outdoor learning too.
We will encourage parents to use the flexibility of arriving between 9-9.30 and collect children from 3-3.30 to support social distancing too.
There will be a staff rota to reflect the groups we have each week at school. This rota will change weekly to support staff wellbeing too.
With best wishes, Nevin
