Information about Free School Meals and eligibility17 June 2020 (by headmarton) |
A message for Families
We have been supporting families that are eligible for free school meals by using a voucher system and I am delighted to confirm that this will continue throughout the summer holidays, I am sure you have all seen the recent news articles regarding this and I think this is a positive step to help families during this challenging time.
The information though is a little confusing and therefore I am writing to explain exactly what this means as it is only for families who are eligible for funding not to be confused with universal infant free school meals.
Infants (children in reception, year 1 and year 2) are given free school meals as part of a Government incentive introduced several years ago. If children attend school as part of the phasing back (reception and year 1 children) they will be given a school packed lunch unless they prefer to bring one from home. Parents will still select this as you would when school is open.
Therefore if you are eligible for funding but your children return (in reception, year 1, 6 or is a key worker child) your voucher will reflect the days your children are in school. This basically means that you will receive a voucher or packed lunch meal.
