Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
Many thanks once again for all your generous donations for this week’s Friday mountain. What a delicious collection. Next week’s collection is Jolly Jars. Please don’t forget if you would like extra raffle tickets too, these are in the school office.
We are all excited to welcome the Christmas Shop to school next week and had the pleasure of sharing a super festive video with children as a chance for them to see what goodies and treats they can buy next week. Huge thanks to Kate and Richard Johnston (and all their little helpers) for making this so magical!
On Wednesday it’s Christmas lunch day and Rachel our school cook has done a super job for preparing for this in very different circumstances this year. This is a special day we always look forward to and I am confident next Wednesday will be special.
My thanks to staff and parents for engaging in an extra parents evening this term. It was very important for us to confirm that pupils are working hard and working towards narrowing gaps in learning after missing 6 months education as a result of lockdown and school closure. As headteacher I am in constant dialogue with other headteachers and all schools have plans for rapid progress and ‘catch up’. Thank you therefore for trusting us with the information we shared with you. We are revising our termly reports to parents and from the Spring term these will look a little different.
Rev Arch conducted this week’s worship from another beautiful church – Marton. Once again the children were enthralled by this and we greatly appreciate Rev Arch’s involvement.
On Wednesday we all enjoyed a very special Art Day that Mrs Owen (and her fab Dad) had planned meticulously. We were so impressed with the work the children produced and now hoping to create a montage of pictures for the website to share with you all.
Today we launched F & F Birthday Club and this was great fun. Each class did something really special and everyone celebrated well, many thanks to F & F and staff for organising this.
Thanks to the parents and governors who were able to join Parent Surgery today for another super discussion. Our next Surgery takes place on 29th January. Many thanks to those of you able to view the RSHE Materials in the school foyer, Miss Copestick is preparing an online survey to ask for further feedback so please look out for this news on the school jotter.
Wishing you all a super weekend, Nevin
