POLICE VISIT TO MARTON
Some of you may be aware that school had a visit from the police last Wednesday morning following an anonymous report that we were holding a mass gathering for 60 people for Christmas Lunch.
Having interviewed Nevin who shared with them the full details as to how this year’s Christmas Lunch had been arranged in terms of who would be in school and when they would be eating, the police confirmed that they were completely satisfied that everything was in order and that our arrangements were compliant with all guidance.
To be clear; children enjoyed their Christmas Lunch in a bag in their discreet bubbles in their classrooms. The small number of adults who were on-site also ate in separate sittings in the hall on socially distanced tables, with no crossover between sittings; Christmas Shop helpers @ 11.30am, Governors x 4 and F&F x 2 @ 12 noon, 1 x F&F @ 12.15 and staff who ate as a group at 12.30pm.
Fortunately due to the way in which school is operating under COVID guidelines, your children were totally unaware of the police visit and were able to enjoy their alternative Christmas Lunch. Sadly, Rachel and the ladies in the kitchen who had worked so hard to ensure everything was as it should be were extremely upset.
Governors would like to thank Nevin and the entire school staff for their professionalism and dedication to running a COVID compliant school and for the way in which they dealt with the police visit. Whilst we have total confidence in the way our school runs from day to day, it is good to know that the police are now also aware of how we do things at Marton.
Best wishes.
