Lockdown 21 Head's Up!29 January 2021 (by headmarton) |
Weekly message from Mrs Deakin
We’ve said this many times but school has felt very strange without the children in this week! We currently have all Key Stage 1 Bubbles and M.A.D House closed; staff and children testing positive for Covid and its felt like we have all needed good news this week! Seeing you all on Zoom and hearing about your work at home is certainly keeping us all going! During the last Lockdown we gained 12 children and this week we have welcomed 3! Now that is good news to share
We continue to be so touched by the kind comments coming into schools; wishing the staff who are poorly, get well wishes, thanking everyone for all their hard work, the phone calls and emails mean so much. You will have no doubt seen many posts on social media about schools having to defend their remote learning and that has made me feel very sad but lucky that YOU all support us. I don’t know any teacher/Headteacher who would ever make a suggestion about your professions or jobs and it’s sad to think schools are being attacked in this way.
We know remote learning doesn’t work for everyone, we know every child is different, we are all learning as we journey into this unknown world but we as teachers chose this profession so we could teach, in schools; a place that we all love and value and therefore we will continue to adapt our remote learning to reflect what we believe as educators the children at Marton need. We are not interested in comparing ourselves to other schools as we know that’s why you as parents chose Marton.
We know now that schools will not be returning for some time and this must worry you, remember to find the positives – easy to say I know but it’s true. We’ll look back at this time and wonder how we all survived but there is so much to feel grateful for. Our health and well-being, our families and friends and those we hold dear.
Wishing you all a safe weekend, Nevin
