Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
We made it to the end of half term and we want to thank you ALL for your work at home and supporting your children so well.
This week we have been viewing all the interaction across Seesaw and we have been so delighted with the activities we have seen to support our Special Well-being Week, we have been hugely impressed!! My thanks extend to the staff for all their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication. I consider myself very lucky indeed to call my work colleagues friends and as such, value them very much. I hope therefore that everyone has a good well-earned rest over half term! Staff will not be responding to Seesaw or setting children any school work as it is precious time to enjoy having a break. I will still respond to emails and will regularly check these during half term continuing to update you with any relevant information.
We had to close our Year 5 Key Worker Bubble this week and I am glad to report we don’t have any further positive Covid cases, let’s hope more people are staying safe and following Government guidelines to contain this virus and that more vaccinations will be administered soon. As yet we do not have anything new to report regarding returning to school and will eagerly wait for the information to be shared by the Prime Minister on 22nd February.
We are all excited about World Book Day on Thursday 4th March and looking forward seeing all your ‘Book in a box’ creations. The staff are planning something very special for WBD so be sure to watch this space!
Some suggested activities for half term:
- Read a book and write a book review for a friend
- Send a postcard to someone special
- Ride your bike/go on a skateboard/get roller boots out
- Sketch something beautiful
- Start a daily journal; each day try starting a sentence with an adverb! It’s trickier than you think
- Design a nature trail or quiz in your garden
- Make yourself a half term challenge; counting steps, daily exercising, baking a cake, for me its reading at least 1 chapter of my book before bedtime, something that I don’t make enough time for!
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy half term, Nevin Deakin
