Lockdown 21 Head’s Up!5 March 2021 (by headmarton) |
Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
We are all looking forward to welcoming all children back to school from Monday 8th March and preparations are a-plenty! Staff have begun to plan our Recovery Curriculum in earnest and we want to reassure you that we know this is going to be a significant change and challenge for all. In the most, children have effectively missed a year of learning and we therefore do NOT expect them not to have suffered this change. It is our duty and passion as educators to assess them and seek ways in which to support their missed learning in order to narrow gaps and ensure children make rapid progress. All the time being mindful of children’s anxiety and their well-being needs. We don’t envisage this to be an easy task at all but one we all share and are committed to.
As children return on 8th March, we will be conducting assessments and we will then repeat these at the end of the half term. This will provide us with two sets of data that we will then share with you all during Parents Evenings. We would therefore urge you to make a note of these dates immediately as it is essential we begin this discussion and dialogue with you.
Termly reports will be sent via Seesaw on Monday 19th April
Zoom Parent’s Evenings will take place on: Tuesday 20th April 1pm – 5pm and Wednesday 21st April 2pm – 6pm.
Children are to come dressed in school uniform each day apart from PE days for Infant classes, see further info:
ASM our PE providers will once again resume PE lessons from week beginning 8th March.
Reception and Year 2 children can come dressed in PE kits on Thursdays.
Year 1 children can come dressed in PE kits on Wednesday and Thursday as they will have Cheshire Cricket sessions this term too.
All KS1 children are to have appropriate footwear and a warm coat on Fridays for Forest School please too.
All KS2 children are to have PE kits and trainers in school every week.
We will still encourage flexibility for arriving at school up to 9.15am and pick up from 3.15pm. Parents and adults must wear masks when arriving at school and we would ask that you collect children and leave as soon as possible.
School meals will continue to be served in classrooms with packed lunch/JP options. We hope to introduce the new summer menu (with all options available) from 19th April.
Staff will continue to use Seesaw for Homework tasks but notifications will not be monitored as they have been, instead if you need to contact school please do this via admin@marton.cheshire.sch.uk or direct to myself on head@marton.cheshire.sch.uk.
To begin with, we will keep all Assemblies/Worship to Zoom sessions and conduct these as we have been doing whilst school has been closed as this seems the most sensible option to ensure children and staff are kept safe. We would however like to invite you to join our weekly Worship sessions each Tuesday @ 9.30am.
In the event of a Staff or Pupil Positive Covid Case, we will inform the whole class bubble of the actions they will have to do (isolation and recommendation of further Covid Tests) and children will need to resume Online learning. Please continue to contact me direct to report any positive cases so we can ensure the information is cascaded to families immediately.
It has been a very different Lockdown experience this time and much of our Recovery Curriculum will concentrate on Well-being and supporting children’s emotional health. We intend to use our beautiful grounds in order to support this and offer children further rich experiences. Mrs Woodmass will be establishing a well-being surgery for KS2 and Mrs Potts will establish a well-being group for KS1 children. ASM will be delivering further PE sessions and we have a special Circus Skills Day planned just before we finish for Easter.
We are so looking forward to welcoming everybody back to school on Monday and thank you in advance for trusting us and supporting us during this time. We know this hasn’t been easy at all!
Have a super weekend, Nevin
