Head's Up/Happy Summer16 July 2021 (by headmarton) |
Weekly news from Mrs Deakin - apologies this is so late!
We have made it to the end of a very challenging and different year and have much to celebrate and enjoy! Your amazing children have worked so incredibly hard and not only made us proud but have shown resilience and determination and we cannot thank them enough for ALL they have done. I hope you have enjoyed reading their end of year reports this week.
September feels a very good time to look ahead and to consider what 'normal' means now that the country moves to Step 4 of the Covid Roadmap from 19th July. To confirm the main elements from the DFE Schools operational guidance produced:
- Staggered times will cease and children will now come into school for 9am and finish at 3.30pm
- School meals will resume in the hall and parents can order lunches on ParentPay
- Assemblies and Collective Worship can resume
- Bubbles will not need to remain apart
- From 16th August, children will NOT need to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a +ve Covid case
- Face coverings will not need to be worn in classrooms or communal areas and parents will not need to wear face coverings when entering the school site, following any outbreak, we may ask you to resume wearing masks but this will only be temporary.
- If a PCR test is taken within 2 days of a positive LFT test and is negative, it overrides the LFT test and the pupil can return to school as long as they don’t have Covid19 symptoms.
Whilst managing Covid has been challenging, there are many positive changes that we have introduced and want to keep, they are:
- KS1 Children will continue to come dressed in PE kits on their PE days and class teachers will confirm this with you in September, KS2 will still need to bring PE bags into school for the week
- Children can continue to use their school book bags
- Good hygiene measures will continue and children will be encouraged to hand sanitize and wash hands throughout the day
- Keeping in touch for any confirmed positive Covid cases is essential so we can support our whole school community
- Classroom doors will be open from 8.50 to enable children to begin work at 9am
I will add this information to the school jotter at the end of August as a reminder too.
Today has been an emotional day as we say goodbye and good luck to our Year 6 pupils; they have been a wonderful cohort and each one of them will be greatly missed. We know they will continue to make us proud and shine at High School and we look forward to hearing all about their adventures in the future!
We also say good luck and thank you to Kelvin Moss who retires today and to Paul Green who has been an incredible chair of the PTA. We are losing colleagues but not losing friendship and we know they will both keep Marton in their hearts.
I have said this on many occasions but it remains more truthful by the day - my thanks and love for the whole team at Marton continues and together we remain committed to wanting the very best for our very best children. We are a Team; with M.A.D House supporting wrap around care, mid days and cleaners who look after us, staff who go beyond the extra mile every day, governors who challenge and support, parents who trust and respect us and a community that keeps its arms around us. I remain proud and blessed daily to be part of our school family.
Have a wonderful summer,
Always your friend, Nevin
