    Weekly news from Mrs Deakin

What an incredible day yesterday was! I don’t think I have ever witnessed such a fantastic Sports Day. The children were amazing, your support as Parents and Carers was incredible and the Staff all worked together as a Team. Having F&F on hand to offer refreshments made the day complete. From the bottom of my heart – THANK YOU! I always say the summer term is my absolute favourite one as there are such joyous events that take place even though it’s so busy!

Today we have welcomed our new Reception children to school for their first Transition visit and they were wonderful! We greatly respect and value parents trusting us as you leave your little children in our care; we promise to always do our best for them and you.

Next week is another action packed week:

Reception Transition visit day 2 on Monday and New Reception Parents evening @ 7pm, Reception to year 1 meeting takes place at 2.45pm on Monday, KS1 and KS2 Cinema Nights happening on Thursday and Friday. Please don’t forget it’s Sweetie Friday too! Please do make a note of all these special dates.

We have been asked about schools meals and think it’s important to provide clear information so that every family is able to get the financial support they are eligible for.

Universal Infant Free School Meals vs Free School Meals

Universal infant free school meals (UIFSM) are available to all pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2. Funding is provided to the school directly, and is used by the school to provide free school meals to infants at UK schools.

Free School Meals (FSM), on the other hand is financial support provided to children of families who fall under certain qualifying criteria. These criteria, and more information can be found on the .gov.uk apply for free school meals website here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals

While parents may not need to apply for FSM for their child if the child is still young enough to receive UIFSM, it is still important to tell the local authority if your family falls under any of the qualifying criteria. This is because if you don’t do so, you will not be able to receive free school meal vouchers in the event of school closures. Additionally, schools only receive pupil premium funding for every child registered for FSM. If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, make sure to apply here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals

We know this information can be a bit confusing so please do contact us direct if we can help!

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend, Nevin
