Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
There was such an exciting buzz at school this morning as we held our special Awards Assembly; everyone looked so glamorous and it was wonderful to welcome parents who had been (secretly) invited into school to watch their children receive a special award. We hope your children have enjoyed this special event. This afternoon is Sweetie Friday and a perfect way to end a very busy week.
Our Year 6 children and parents will return this evening for their special leaving party and we look forward to welcoming them all tonight. Many thanks to all parents who have organised this memorable event for families.
Next Friday the ice cream van will visit school and Friends and Family have donated funds for every child to have an ice cream or lolly ice. This is F & F’s way of saying a big thank you for supporting their fundraising this year. What a great treat to look forward to on the last day!
All after school clubs have now finished, only ASM clubs will continue next week. Huge thanks to ALL staff, parents, governors and helpers for running these and creating great opportunities for our children, we know they have all enjoyed them.
I am sure you are all aware of the Predicted Extreme Heat Weather Warnings. The Met Office has extended an amber extreme heat warning for Sunday 17 July, Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July, as temperatures will build this weekend and early next week for much of England and Wales. Because of this children can wear PE kits or other shorts and tops ALL week. Staff will also be encouraged to wear casual clothes too. Rachel will offer packed lunches all week (apart from Thursday which is Year 6 special lunch choice) please order all lunches via ParentPay. Please can we remind you that children will need water bottles as we will be encouraging lots of drinking too. We will increase playtimes and use any cool areas for playtime too. Horse riding has been cancelled and will resume in September for children that have been invited to attend.
Termly reports will be sent in envelopes on Monday for you all. We are all so proud of our children and hope you are too. It has been wonderful to have a ‘normal’ school year and enjoy all special school events. As a reminder we finish next Friday (normal school time) and return on Tuesday 6th September.
Have a super weekend, Nevin
