Easter Extravaganza in Congleton23 March 2023 (by headmarton) |
A message from Rachel McCarthy - Town Centre & Events Officer
Congleton Town Council is planning a cracking Easter with lots of fun filled activities to celebrate the spring holiday season and keep the little ones entertained. Everyone is invited to join in the local family fun that doesn’t break the bank.
The fun and games kick off with the popular Easter Treats Day in the town centre on Tuesday 4 April from 11am-2pm. Rachel McCarthy, Congleton Town Council’s Town Centre and Events Officer said: “We have a range of eggciting activities planned, which will include – Easter crafts, Punch and Judy, meet the Halton Farm calves and milk a real cow. Children can get hands-on planting seeds with Congleton In Bloom and take their pot home to watch it magically grow. Other attractions on the day will include, face painting, Woodland Trust, Ruby’s Fund Sensory Bus and music. Look out for the Little Bears and an appearance from Billy the giant Rabbit!”
Make Easter the 'Hoppiest' one yet with a free trail around 40 participating town centre shops. Rachel explains: “Children are challenged to find the bunnies in the window, form a phrase with the letters and claim their chocolate reward from the Congleton Information Centre. Look out for the golden eggs on some of the posters, these shops have special treats inside! All you need to do is bounce on down to the Information Centre (inside the Town Hall) or participating shops to pick up a free trail. Copies will also be available at the Easter Treats event. There’s no need to race off and hare around the shops, as the hunt runs from 3-17 April. A huge thank you to Tesco, Barn Road for sponsoring the chocolate eggs.”
If that’s not enough to keep the kids busy, visit Congleton Park on 12 & 13 April from 10.30am-3pm for a Peter Rabbit themed Scavenger Hunt. Ruth Burgess, Streetscape Development Manger said: “The Friends of Congleton Park are looking forward to a busy two days, we hope as many little scavengers as possible can take part. Simply pick up your entry form from the Pavilion steps then explore the park searching for all your favourite Peter Rabbit characters. Find them hiding in the woods, gardens, play area, bowling green or along the river path. Once you have completed the self-led hunt and fun quiz, hand in your entry to Stock At The Pavilion in exchange for a free soft drink & piece of fruit. Kindly donated by the team at Stock. One lucky entry, will win a special first place prize!”
As part of the town council’s local activities programme, Daneside Theatre will be showing an eggstra special screening of Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. Catch the family friendly movie on Wednesday 5 April, 2pm. Tickets cost £5 each from Congleton Information Centre (no booking fees) or online via: www.ticketsource.co.uk.
