Jade Louis:
Hello, my name is Jade Louis and I am a new parent at Marton, my little boy has recently started in reception. I would love to be considered for the role as parent governor. My education and work experience is in child development and education and I have worked with children from birth to high school, in different capacities, within outstanding settings. I have previously undertaken voluntary work in a number of schools as I truly believe that a lot can be learnt from volunteering and simply giving people your time, hence my interest in the governor role.
My degree was in childhood and youth studies which centred around child development and psychology. I worked for a number of years as a teaching assistant in both state and independent schools before successfully completing my teacher training. In more recent years I have set up my own business as an Ofsted registered childminder. I thoroughly enjoyed this as it utilised all of my experience and knowledge and gave me the ability to spend precious time with my own children. I am currently completing a counselling/psychotherapy course and will complete this to a masters level qualification.
If I was to be successful in securing the role as parent governor then I bring a sound knowledge of safeguarding, a good knowledge of the national curriculum with a particular interest and knowledge of the EYFS, experience in writing and implementing policies and procedures as well as a commitment to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing amongst both children and adults.
Thank you for your support, Jade
Claire Venables:
Hi everyone
I am writing to apply for the position of Parent Governor at Marton. I am mum to George (year 5), Ethan (year 3) and Elsie (year 1). Our family has a long connection with the school; my husband, Andy, went to Marton School and my mum also attended the school back in the late 60s.
I have worked as a teacher for over 18 years and have held posts as a Music Teacher and Head of Performing Arts within two local 11-18 high schools and my current role is as Head of Performing Arts at a local prep school. I have taught across a number of subjects and have experience of working in different education settings as a supply teacher in Melbourne, Australia.
In my spare time, I mainly act as a taxi service running the kids from one activity to the next but I also like to be outdoors walking, helping out on my parent’s farm and supporting my husband Andy with his marketing business.
I feel my experience in education, educational policy and assisting with the running of a family business will provide valuable skills if I was to be appointed as a governor. Our children love Marton school and everything it has to offer and I would like to play a role in helping to further develop a kind and nurturing school community for our children to learn and grow.
Thank you for your support, Claire
