Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
We have really loved promoting Children’s Mental Health Week this week and I hope the children have enjoyed the different activities on offer. Mrs. Wilson had planned a super timetable and Mrs. Woodmass our ELSA Lead has supported all children. The theme for mental health week was ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’ which complimented the launch of Zones of Regulation; a school-wide strategy to discuss emotions with children and allow them to recognise and discuss their feelings. It’s always good to talk and to give children time to talk.
In support of mental health week, we too as a school want to support the smartphone free childhood movement and hope you will all read the information that has been sent. Do come along to our Parent Surgery on Wednesday 12th Feb @ 2.30pm so we can discuss this and anything else you would like to know about school.
Yesterday our Year 2 children delivered a wonderful assembly to the rest of school and their parents on Internet Safety and they reminded us that if somethings doesn’t look or feel right, then it certainly isn’t. How sensible of Year 2! We will be doing further work across the school for Internet Safety Day next week too.
Year 4 children had a wonderful residential this week and all returned very tired and happy! We loved seeing and hearing all about their trip and we are SO proud of them! All thanks to Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. McGuire – the dynamic trio for attending the trip and having so much fun too!
Please don’t forget it’s Valentine’s lunch next Friday and order on ParentPay. We would also like to invite children to wear pyjamas to school in support of Children’s Cancer hospitals on this day too. This is something very close to all our hearts at school and we are sending much love to families and children receiving treatment. If you are able to send a donation in (for wearing pyjamas) we will collect this, you can also follow this link and donate online: https://www.justgiving.com/page/marton-district?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL
Best wishes for a super weekend, Nevin
