Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
We had the pleasure of watching Reception children’s Mother’s Day assembly on Wednesday and it was wonderful. I have been absolutely tickled listening to them rehearse for the past few days, it’s not often I can say I can hear everything word perfect through the walls to my office but this week I nearly joined in! Their assembly was an utter delight and we wish all the special women in your families a very happy Mother’s Day on Sunday.
We had another pretty magical Marton day yesterday as we celebrated our termly Christian Value’s Day. The weather was glorious and children took part in a carousel of thoughtful activities planned meticulously by Miss Copestick and Ethos Group. Rev Edwards and Simon Wain also conducted Worship for both key stages in the morning and Rachel had planned American lunch day which we all ate outside in the sunshine. Each class ended their activities with an egg hunt and everyone had a crème egg. There really is no place like Marton!
After suggesting different times for Parent’s Surgery, we met this week on Tuesday after school. I shared with parents our Attendance Fact Sheet for families that was emailed to you all today and we also continued the discussion about keeping children safe online.
There has been much discussion regarding the television series ‘Adolescence’ and I am pleased that this has raised much attention to the dangers of online safety. We regularly hear that children are playing games that are not age related and this makes us all very sad. Childhood is such a precious time and one we should cherish. If you are struggling with supporting your children at home, please do contact us as we are here to help. We have a dedicated page on our school website about Online Safety (https://www.marton.cheshire.sch.uk/for-parents/online-safety) with lots of very useful information too.
Our next Parent Surgery will take place on Friday 25th April @ 2.45pm. Whilst we don’t always have an agenda for these meetings as these are an opportunity to ask us questions; if there is a topic or question you may have about school please do contact me direct.
Today children will bring home their termly report which we hope you enjoy reading. We are all looking forward to welcoming you to Parent’s Evening next Monday or Wednesday, please don’t forget children are allowed to go home after your appointment. On these days Mad House will be located in the Year 2 classroom.
Wishing everyone a fabulous Easter Bingo tonight, lots of yummy prizes and family fun. All thanks to F & F.
Don’t forget clocks go forward this weekend and (hopefully) the weather will start to improve. Please can children continue to bring an extra pair of shoes to go onto the school field.
Have a super weekend, Nevin Deakin
