Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
Wasn't F & F's Colour Run last Saturday absolutely amazing?
The wet weather did nothing to dampen anyone's spirits and in fact, made the day even more colourful. It was such a pleasure to see everyone laughing and travelling around the field with rainbow colours all over them. This day wouldn't have been possible without the tireless help and hard work undertaken by a simply wonderful group of people who as if by magic - arrange EVERYTHING and then clean it all away. We love and thank you so very much.
We've had quite a few special events and visitors this week and all have enjoyed being at school. On Tuesday Nick from All Saint's conducted Worship for us and on Wednesday Rose Birdsall talked to the children about the Summer Reading Challenge taking place across libraries in Cheshire. If you visit school you'll know that reading is really important to us all and we talk to children about reading all of the time. Do read as much as you can with your children and I urge you to take part in the summer reading challenge - it's great family fun and free!
Year 2 Camp Out last night was a great success and we all had SO much fun! Huge thank you to Mr Marks, Miss Copestick, Mrs McLean and Mrs Cook for all their help. Lots of the staff also returned to join in the fun and we all had such a wonderful evening with some very excited children. Same time next year campers?
Special shout out this week to some of our children who were Vale Junior Award Winners; Ivie Hammon in Year 3, George Venables in Year 5, and Freddie Burgess in Year 6.
Finley Lewis in Year 6 also took part in the UK championship competition and was very successful (5 awards!) he’s now been placed in all the finals. Well done to all our children!
We are all looking forward to Sports Day next Thursday. Children are welcome to come dressed in their PE kits on this day (House colour tops) and don’t forget sun hats, water bottles and maybe a waterproof if weather is poor.
F&F will be selling ice creams, sweets and refreshments like last year throughout the day too.
We are having an Art Day next week and we’d like to thank you in advance for all items you have been sending into school. We are very much looking forward to creating some big art works for displays around school.
The Halle and Peak Wildlife Trip takes place on Tuesday 17th June, children in Years 2/3/4 and 6 will be taking part in an ASM day on this day and information about PE kits was added to school jotter on Tuesday.
I have sent out my annual staffing letter today via email and know you will all join me in congratulating Mrs Jones for Baby no 2. We are all very excited!
Enjoy the weekend, Nevin Deakin
