Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
The weather this week has been absolutely wonderful and this really made Sports Day yesterday. Huge thanks to all our children for being so amazing and for taking part and to F & F for providing refreshments for everyone to buy. What a super day!
Our children have had a very busy week as Reception and Year 1 went to Peak Wildlife Park and Year 5 went to perform at the Halle. As an end of term summer treat, ASM led a special Sports event day on Tuesday and this was such fun!
We welcomed our new (very little!) Reception children this week as they began their transition visits and held their Parents meeting on Wednesday evening – we are excited to be welcoming new children and families to join our Marton Family. We’re now all looking forward to our annual Move Up Mornings next week too.
Our children always make us proud each day but it’s so lovely to hear of children’s achievements outside of school too. This week Emilia Fower came to tell me all about her Ballet exam (she passed with distinction) and I also had the pleasure to witness Zoe (our Head Girl) read beautifully at her Grandfather’s funeral. Well done children.
Each day, I have been receiving beautiful hand written cards and letters from lovely Year 3 children – they make me smile and they are all THE best pen pals! Thank you Year 3 children.
Today we joined thousands of children around the UK and the World for The Great Big Live Assembly for World Refugee Day, the themes were hospitality and inclusion and we really enjoyed this. We also heard Michael Rosen read his poem ‘On the Move Again’ and loved the last line: Home is where you find it. Marton feels like our home.
Enjoy the beautiful weather, Nevin Deakin
