    Weekly news from Mrs Deakin

What a show! Our KS2 production of There's No Place Like Marton was a truly magnificent performance, filled with laughter, talent, and heart. The children dazzled on stage with their confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm — they should be incredibly proud of themselves.

A huge thank you to Mrs Cook for making this happen, she had a vision and we have been overwhelmed by her dedication and ability to make this production happen; to Mrs McLean for sourcing costumes, props, and everything in between, Miss Heath and her Dad, Mr Cook and Jacob and to all the staff who supported behind the scenes. We are also very grateful to F&F for their huge support (how amazing were the programs and t shirts) and our wonderful parents for their help with costumes, props, and encouragement — your support means so much.

Most of all though, a massive well done to our amazing children who brought the story to life with such energy and joy. It was a production to remember and I hope they all feel so proud of themselves.

Today we held our annual Awards Assembly, this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements, efforts, and shining qualities of our pupils across the school. It was a joy to reflect on what a fantastic group of children we have at Marton. Congratulations to all our award winners, you truly are stars! A special thank you and farewell to our retiring Head Boy, Charlie, and Head Girl, Zoe, who have both shown maturity, kindness, and excellent leadership throughout the year. They will now hand over the reins to Artie and Isla, who we know will continue to lead with enthusiasm and pride. Well done to them all!

This week, I had the privilege of attending a special service at Swettenham Church with Miss Copestick for Rev Jim’s service as the new vicar for Rural Daneside. It was a meaningful occasion, and I was honoured to give a welcome speech on behalf of our school. Rev Jim also visited us on Tuesday to lead a special assembly and meet the children. We are very much looking forward to working with him and welcoming him into our school community.

Next week is our final week of the summer term, and what a busy and exciting term it has been! A special reminder that our Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly will take place on Thursday at 9:30am. Year 6 Families are warmly invited to join us for this emotional farewell — and don’t forget to bring tissues!

We’re having a ‘dress down Friday’ next week if children and staff want to come dressed in their own clothes. Year 6’s are welcome to bring school shirts in for signing on this day too.

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend, Nevin Deakin
