    Weekly news from Mrs Deakin

Our incredible Year 6 class launched Mental Health week with their Class Worship on Monday and it was really wonderful! All children have taken part in a range of activities to support Mental Health week and we have loved our wellbeing market stall hosted by our Little Bees (mental health class ambassadors). Miss Copestick conducted a special whole school Worship on Tuesday (that was very yummy) for ‘Fruits of the Spirit’ and each class followed this with a Reflection activity.  The week has ended with an ‘Inside Out Own Clothes Day’ and we have truly had a marvellous Marton week at school!

Special thanks to Mrs Woodmass, Mrs Wilson, Miss Copestick and our Little Bees!

Children in Years 5 & 6 have taken part in Bikeability sessions and we are proud of how well they all did and know they will keep these safety skills for life.

Our PCSO’s conducted a further safety workshop this week for KS2 on Anti-Social Behaviour. We are very proud of the relationship we have with our PCSO’s and hope children have enjoyed these interactive workshops.

Have you all seen our Marton Bear? Doesn’t he look absolutely incredible in his school uniform? Mrs Rainford has lovingly painted him and we think he looks AMAZING! Thank you Mrs Rainford for being so talented and so creative. We are very proud of our Marton Bear.

We held Parent Surgery on Tuesday and it was really great to have your feedback and chance to discuss Parental Engagement. I added a message to School Jotter (along with our 25/26 School Improvement Priorities) on Tuesday if you haven’t had chance to read this yet. Our next surgery will take place in November and I will remind you nearer the time.

Weekly news from our Busy Classes:

    • Reception have ticked off week six! Another very successful week at 'big' school. We warmly welcomed many of our grown up for family lunch. Thank you to everyone who came. The children loved showing you how independent they are at lunch time. We have been talking about our houses and what makes them a home.  The comments and ideas of the children made us laugh, smile and brought tears to our eyes!

    • Year 1 has transformed into a class of architects this week, learning all about Le Corbusier and creating brilliant designs for their own free-standing structures! We can't wait to start building our structures next week!  Alongside our DT work, we've been writing addition number sentences in Maths and have enjoyed our final Julia Donaldson book, 'Monkey Puzzle', with a real focus on our letter formation and handwriting.  Year 1 have worked so hard with their writing - they're superstars!

    • Year 2 have loved having their ELSA sessions this week and the bee cups that they made are just adorable. We completed the needs for survival unit in Science by looking at what humans need and discovered that we have the same needs as most other animals. We looked at diversity within our community and how every family is different.

    • Year 3 have had a very reflective week - very fitting for our school’s mental health week. We have created our own Mental Health toolkits, tried Cosmic Yoga and have taken care of our spiritual wellbeing by reflecting on the fruit of the Spirit - in particular, Joy. We enjoyed a sensory session where we explored scents that might bring us feelings of joy. Double chocolate cookie was a big favourite!! Also, a huge congratulations to our Y3 cross country runners this week, who represented school for the first time! Well done!

    • What a fantastic week it’s been for Year 4! We’ve absolutely loved taking part in Mental Health Week and exploring the theme of understanding and naming our feelings. Everyone joined in with great enthusiasm, sharing ideas and supporting one another. We had a brilliant ELSA session, where we talked about ways to look after our wellbeing and show kindness to ourselves and others. Linking beautifully with our worship theme, we also explored the Fruits of the Spirit, with a special focus on kindness — how we can spread it through our words and actions each day. To finish off the week, we got creative and made our very own colourful “fruits” to add to our class worship area, reminding us to always choose kindness and positivity.

    • Year 5 have had another wonderful week — we’ve been practising our Harvest song and exploring the brave risks women in the Bible took for their families and for God. We enjoyed our exciting Bikeability session and took part in a fantastic ELSA ‘mental health toolkit’ session with Mrs Woodmass.

    • Year 6 have shown fantastic focus and teamwork throughout another busy and rewarding week! In maths, we’ve started learning about long division, and in Bikeability we’ve been developing our cycling skills — learning how to negotiate the road safely, pass stationary vehicles, and start and stop with confidence. On Monday, the class did an amazing job presenting their worship on mental health, speaking clearly and confidently in front of everyone. We’ve also enjoyed a calming yoga session and thoughtful ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ reflection, helping us all to think about how we can look after our wellbeing, and focus on joy, patience and kindness.

    • ELSA news The children in all classes have been amazing and enjoyed making their own wellbeing being toolkits.  It’s been gorgeous!

What a really busy wonderful week at school, enjoy the weekend everyone,
