Bad Weather Procedure – November 20253 November 2025 (by headmarton) |
Information for Families
Welcome back to school. We hope you have all enjoyed the Half Term holidays.
As the weather turns colder, I wanted to remind you of the procedures we follow if we experience bad weather.
Closing the school is never an easy decision and is one we make only when absolutely necessary. However, if buses are unable to travel along School Lane, this will make closure unavoidable. If school transport deems the area unsafe, we would not expect parents, children, or staff to attempt travelling to school.
For several years, we have had an effective communication system in place to keep everyone informed, which we will continue to use this year if a closure is required. The process is as follows:
- A decision will be made in consultation with the bus companies, usually by 6:00 a.m.
 - A notification will be posted as early as possible on School Jotter and on our school website, informing parents directly if the school is closed.
 - We will also inform local radio stations (Silk FM and Signal FM) so that the closure can be included in their school bulletins.
 - Local primary and high schools will also be notified.

Please ensure the school office has your most up-to-date mobile number and email address so we can contact you promptly.
Additional information:
- We kindly ask parents not to ring school on these mornings, as staff may not be present and we are unable to answer all calls.
 - If the weather worsens during the school day, we will inform parents if the school is likely to be closed the following day and may advise an early pick-up if appropriate.
 - Updates regarding reopening will also be posted on School Jotter.

Should you need to contact M.A.D. House (before and after school club), please call 07538 227999.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
With best wishes,
 Nevin Deakin
