United Utilities Works on School Lane16 January 2026 (by headmarton) |
Information for families from Monday 19th January
Dear Parents and Carers,
You may have noticed the signs at the end of School Lane advising that United Utilities will be carrying out essential works in the area. These works are scheduled to begin on Monday 19th January and are expected to last for approximately five months.
The repair works are required to replace pipes that are reaching the end of their lifespan and now need replacing. We have had a very productive meeting with United Utilities today, and they have reassured us that there will be minimal disruption to the school. Importantly, they have confirmed that the school will continue to have access to water and, unless an emergency situation arises, there will be no need for the school to close as a result of these works.
The work will begin along School Lane from the Gawsworth end, and this section of the road will be closed from Monday, with diversions in place. Parents who normally use this route to travel towards from/to Macclesfield will therefore need to find an alternative route.
As the work progresses along School Lane towards the A34, there will continue to be access maintained for the school and for residents. When the works move closer to the school site, we will inform you in advance with any relevant details.
United Utilities will maintain regular contact with the school, and I will continue to update you accordingly as the project progresses.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Nevin J Deakin
