...about a very special girl!
I received a wonderful email at the end of the Easter holidays about Ellie in Year 4.
Ellie was so touched by Uganda week at school, that she decided she wanted to raise more money herself to buy a mosquito net. She decided to write poems, to print and sell on a stall in her street at home. She wrote poems and sold these and made £1.40. Ellie was disappointed that she hadn't raised enough for a net but came up with the plan to have a cake sale at her Grandparents!
Determined to make this a success, Ellie designed and printed leaflets explaining the upcoming cake sale which she hand delivered to all the people on Grandma's street. She made bunting in Ugandan colours, and signs for her stall. She decorated her cakes in Ugandan coloured icing and opened shop! The sale was a great success and she had to temporarily close the stall while she made another batch of cakes as she sold out!!
She sold all those too! She even had neighbours posting money through the door after the sale had ended!
Ellie raised an unbelievable £34.48 from the cake stall and donations as a result of it. The final total she raised was £35.88, which we all think is just amazing.
I had the privilege of reading the very proud email I received from Mrs Dixon to the whole school yesterday and to read the wonderful scrapbook Ellie made and we all felt incredibly proud. I know Geri our Uganda friend will be thrilled!
Thank you so much Ellie for being such an inspiration and for all your hard work. What a star you are!
What a great start to the summer term!
