Teacher appointed!
Dear EYFS Parents and Carers
I am delighted to be informing you that we have appointed our new EYFS teacher who will be starting after the Easter holidays. Mrs Lena Owen will be joining our staff and school family and we are very excited to welcome her.
Some of you will know Mrs Owen as she is an experienced EYFS teacher who is currently employed at High Hopes Nursery. It was wonderful to witness the children’s reactions when she arrived for her lesson observation yesterday. They were thrilled!
We received a great deal of interest in this post and many applications - making the shortlisting selection very thorough. We interviewed 3 incredible teachers yesterday and the calibre of the candidates was remarkable. All were proficient, professional and skilled. We were in a fortunate position of being able to choose the very best teacher for your children.
It has been a very unsettling few weeks in EYFS and we would like to thank you for the support, encouragement and kindness you have shown. The personal messages of support you have sent have touched the staff and meant a lot to us all.
We were not expecting Mrs Cooper’s sick leave to result in her tendering her resignation and this took us all by surprise. We could not have anticipated the supply teacher changing her mind about full time teaching and we appreciate you may have been anxious. Mrs Allport is currently absent on sick leave and Miss Bowen has resigned and we have faced a period of change like no other.
Throughout this though - your children have been our priority. We currently have two experienced teachers - Alison Rostron and Megan Ellis who have continued to plan prepare and inspire your children. We thank them both for their support and commitment and we thank your children who have welcomed each new staff member with such care, showing a willingness to learn and try their best that has been remarkable. I’m sure you have all heard about ‘Going for Green’, the children’s achievements in Celebration assemblies, their phonics and reading work and how they are working hard to consolidate their learning in Reception.
We have now arranged for Mrs Owen to come and work with the children and begin to plan for their learning after Easter. She will be at Marton for the next two Wednesdays to support this transition.
On Wednesday 3rd April she will be holding a Meet the Teacher morning from 9 am so you can all officially meet her and listen to her plans for EYFS. Do come and join us for tea & toast!
Mrs Owen will also conduct Parents Evenings after Easter so she is able to update you on your child’s progress to date.
Once again - we thank you for your support and involvement. If you do have any concerns please do contact us. We are always happy to meet parents.
With best wishes
Nevin Deakin and Sue Furness (Chair of Governors)
