Weekly news from Mrs Deakin
It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome everyone back to school after the Easter holidays and we are all looking forward to a very busy and happy summer term ahead.
We have welcomed Mrs Owen onto the teaching staff and together with Miss Ellis (and lots of help from Mr Moss) the reception classroom now looks amazing! We cannot thank them enough for the care and enthusiasm they have shown for our little children. It was a pleasure to see so many EYFS parents in school this morning for their book changing session. Both Mrs Owen and Miss Ellis will be available for next Friday’s Parents Surgery @ 9.10am if parents want to pop in for a cuppa and bacon roll.
Today our special friend, Imran has been in school to deliver a lesson on Islam for Year 5 children and it was wonderful to see our children so engaged and excited about his visit. Imran brought a special gift for the staff for Ramadan and our children experienced some delicious treats too.
Our Year 5 girls have held a very successful Mini Market this week and have been incredibly organised and prepared. The whole school has enjoyed their delicious lemonades, doughnuts and sweeties and they have raised a great amount so far. We wish them lots of good luck for their triathlon this weekend and will confirm the final amount raised next week. Special thanks to their lovely Mums for helping out too!
Last night I heard all about another incredible child at school – Harriet Bourne who decided to complete her Charity Badge for Eaton Brownies in raising funds for cancer research in memory of her beloved Grandad. She has raised over £700 so far and been recognised by Cancer Research and Congleton Police for all her hard work and efforts. I’m not ashamed to say I had a little cry reading Harriet’s message about her Grandad and her reasons for fundraising and felt incredibly touched that one of our special pupils has shown such initiative and thoughtfulness. I am sure you will all be inspired to support her too. I will add Harriet’s info to a separate message and will share her story with the whole school in our assembly next week.
I am sure I have said this many times but it is always true…It is a pleasure to be Headteacher of such a special school. One that shows care and love for others and where we all work together as a team.
Wishing you all a very happy weekend
