Town Sports victory!4 July 2019 (by Year5) |
As some of you may be aware, Town Sports took place last night under the glorious sunshine in a new venue of Congleton High School. Team Marton set out to try and reclaim the title of Small Schools Champions for a fourth consecutive year.
After the long race, in which our athletes ran exceptionally well, the rest of the evening's events got off to a flying start, with the boys sprints, the girls javelin and the girls long jump. Some exceptional performances across all three of these events gave us the start we wanted. This was to include the breaking of a new Long Jump record by Imaiya (Y6), an enormous leap of 2m 26cm!!!
The boys skippers were next on the track and they took some vital points for the team. At the halfway point things were looking GOLDEN and from that point forwards, the results kept getting better.
Next, it was the girls turn on the track and the boys switched to the field events. 3 wins out of 4 races for the Skipping girls and 2 very convincing wins in the sprints made our position strong. By the time the relay had teams had won 4 out of 4 races, along with taking another record - the victory was sealed.
MARTON completed the clean sweep of Boys Champions, Girls Champions and Overall Champions. Another truly amazing achievement from our young athletes.
A huge thank you to all the parents and supporters who came to cheer the team on, a huge THANK YOU to Dean @ Kickstart and a massive THANK YOU to all the children for competing with Pride, Determination and Passion.
