50th Birthday23 September 2019 (by headmarton) |
Thank you!
Where to start?
Friday’s 50th Birthday celebration was not only a wonderful success – it was a testament to all that Marton represents! It was a perfect evening with glorious weather in which families, friends, colleagues came together to celebrate this special identity and family that was created 50 years ago and that continues to the present day.
We were delighted so many of you were able to join us and thank you all for your time, kind words, emails and thoughts.
We felt incredibly lucky to welcome many of the first staff back on Friday and they all remarked about the feeling at school. I have reminded the children of this in assembly today as we cut our magnificent birthday cake (everyone is currently enjoying a very yummy break time) and thanked them for being so very special to us.
The evening would not have gone as smoothly as it did without the help of a great team of people:
- James Gordon for the magnificent Hog Roast, Pimms and Bar
- Rachel Billington (Bowl and Whisk) for scrummy Brownies
- Tayla Shufflebotham for our Beautiful cake
- Dean and the Kickstart Team (now known as the Duracell Team!) for Family games and Face Painting
- Marton Friends and Family for paying for the Pimms
- Nick Barnes for the wonderful Magic Show
- All the staff (including Mrs Woodmass for the Photo displays) for their support, hard work and friendship
- All School Governors for their support and friendship
- Granelli’s Ice cream van which was a treat for everyone
- Sian Winn for our beautiful new stage curtains
- Robert Sims for allowing the parking on his field and to Rev Arch for opening gates
- Mr Moss for being our superhero!
Very special thanks to Sue Furness and Sheila Kent, who organised this whole event with me as a way to say THANK YOU for 50 years of Marton School. It was a pleasure to work alongside you both.
I have said this many times but it feels particularly pertinent now. It is a pleasure and privilege to be the Headteacher of Marton and to hold the school carefully in my hands. I drove home on Friday euphoric that we had all celebrated what is so very special at school; our Marton family. Thank you for supporting us all. Here’s to the next 50 years!
With love and thanks, Nevin Deakin
