Online safety4 October 2019 (by Heather Sparey (HSparey)) |
A great conversation
We've had some really interesting discussions this afternoon in our computing lessons. We have discussed social media, how we use it and how to protect ourselves and keep safe.
I suspect some children may have questions following this lesson and it would be a great opener for you to chat to your children about the ways we keep safe online.
We discussed not using our real names as our usernames, making sure we are only 'friends' with people we know in real life, ensuring our accounts are private, making sure it doesn't share our location (especially on snapchat) as well as how we block or report inappropriate behaviour.
It was great to hear how many children know how to block or report inappropriate content or behaviour on the social media platforms they use.
The following sites are great for advice on how to help support your children.

Many thanks for your support as we work together to keep our children safe.
