Another busy sporting week, we have had 4 cross country races and 2 football matches. The children have represented the school wonderfully and it has been a pleasure to be able to take them out to these events.
The first race in the Congleton cross country was held on Tuesday at Eaton Bank and a superb run from Ruby (4th place) and the rest of the Year 3 and Year 4 girls gave the team a good score, well done to the Sophie, Isla, Sophie, Anya, Holly, Trulie and Harriet. Another hotly contested boys race saw Sam just pip Khy this time in to 4th and 6th respectively. Andy, Daniel, Jenson, Solomon and Artie all ran with great spirit and commitment.
Falibroome hosted the races on Wednesday, and it was the turn of Year 5 and Year 6 children. In a really muddy race, Ellie claimed another 2nd place. Maddie, Maddison, Daisy and Vivienne put in a really good performance to claim another 6th place for the team. The boys race was run at a blistering pace and more shoes were lost, despite shoe lace tying beforehand! Thomas finished 10th and the other boys not far behind. Well done to Oliver, Rhys and Oliver.
The runners are developing well and with another Year 3 and Year 4 race next week in Macclesfield and Year 5 and Year 6 at Macclesfield the following week, which will complete the programme until after half term.
Yesterday afternoon was the first outing for the new Marton football team, and what an outing it was. We had blistering strikes from half way, tap in goals, goalkeepers charging out of their boxes and silky skills that landed opponents on their behinds. It was fantastic football to watch and the team have gelled beautifully. The boys played unselfish football and with composure in front of goal, resulting in 2 wins from 2 games. Well done to Thomas, Oliver, Lewis, Charlie, Keir, Alfie and Billy.
