NO LUCK FOR OUR NETBALLERS16 October 2019 (by Kaite Worlock (vicechair)) |
On Tuesday our new netball team made their debut in the Congleton Schools League.
It was a tough introduction to competitive match play for our newly formed netball team when they took on Mossley and St Mary’s in last night’s first round of league matches.
Mossley’s more experienced players played well and their shooters scored some lovely goals as they secured a convincing win against us in our first ever competitive match. Our second match against St Mary’s was a much closer affair but despite our best efforts we lost by a single goal.
Everyone tried really hard and we had some lovely passages of passing play but unfortunately we just couldn’t convert our shooting chances. Ben and Oliver made some fantastic interceptions and Millie was a key player in whatever position she was in. I am very proud of the commitment and teamwork from all of the children. They got better in each qtr as they settled into the demands of match play and I know that they’re determined to come out fighting in the second round of matches.
Well done all of you, we have work to do and I know you’ll all give it 100%. Onwards and upwards Team Marton.
Thanks to my right hand man Matt Bourne and to all the parents who drove and/or supported. Thanks also to Laura Christian for the photo.
