Good afternoon, 

Thank-you so much to all the parents and grandparents who came to the maths workshop yesterday. I hope you all found it useful. The power point will be added to our foundation stage website page soon.

Homework this week is focusing on maths and addition. 

Your child has 2 sheets with little challenges to complete all about combining groups and adding objects by counting on. 

Please start with the black and white challenges first and then the colour challenge set. 

Here are a few techniques to make the challenges a little harder if needed: 

• ask your child to count on from the highest number to find the total of 2 groups. 
• Writing  number sentences from the challenge ie 3+5=8
•  Use a number line for the children to explain how they worked it out. 
•  Use a range of mathematical language  including add, plus, equals, sum, altogether and total.  

Please can you ensure all children are read with at home as they all need the practice to make progress and get ready for year one.
